PCC YOUTH MTB PROGRAMS ARE BACk!
PCC Dirt Squad Program
The Peterborough Cycling Club Dirt Squad (previously known as Sprockids and Devo+) offers youth-focused mountain biking programs designed to develop sound riding skills, cycling etiquette and a lasting love of the ride.
Mountain Bike Program for kids age 5 to 17 years of age
Dates: Wednesdays May 3 to June 21, 2023 (8 weeks)
Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Locations:
- Wed May 3,10 @ Elmhirst’s Resort – 1045 Settlers Line, Keene
- Wed May 17-June 21 @ Harold Town Conservation Area, Old Norwood Road
**New for 2023: Program Mountain Biking Jersey included with registration. Sizes will be collected prior to the start of the season.
PCC Dirt Squad Registration Information
Registration opens on Wednesday March 22, 2023 @ 7pm
Registration Application (and Wait List) will be created through a time stamped Google Form – Parent Name, Email Address and Number of interested Youth.
There will be a check box to indicate the number of youth you are registering that are interested in being assessed for the Dirt Squad Team (Competitive Program).
Applicants interested in the Dirt Squad Team (Competitive Program) that successfully pass the assessment will pay the upgrade fee to participate in the competitive program.
Priority will be given to recent youth member participants that complete the Google Form within 24 hours of the registration opening.
Successful Registrants through the Google Form will be sent a code to proceed with program and insurance registration on CCN. All registrants will pay the regular Dirt Squad (Recreational program) fee. Registration is not complete until program and insurance registration are complete on CCN.




Dirt Squad (Recreational Focus)
Cost: $120 plus $20 Ontario Cycling Mini-Membership (Insurance)*
The Dirt Squad program is designed to teach young people mountain bike skills and enable them to safely and successfully enjoy mountain biking. Mountain biking is about fun, adventure, adrenaline, and discovery.
- Open to young riders ages 5-17 who must be able to ride on bumpy grass independently.
- Participants require a mountain bike with a well-functioning gear system, hand operated rim/disc brakes (no coaster brakes), and kickstands removed. Please make sure your bike is in safe working condition prior to the beginning of the program.
- Riders will be grouped according to skill and fitness.
*Mini-Membership is only for recreation program members ages 15 years or younger. Participants ages 16 or older must purchase an Associate Club Membership ($51) instead of the Mini-Membership.

Dirt Squad Team (Competitive Focus)
Cost: $155 plus $48 Ontario Cycling Provincial Race License (Insurance)
Additional Saturday Rides at Dates & Locations TBA for training/pre-rides in advance of OCup races
The Dirt Squad Team is designed for competitive riders that are interested in learning more about racing through the PCC Dirt Squad race team. This program will focus on training for races and skill development on more intermediate/advanced trails as well as the option to participate in the Ontario Cup XC race series.

- OCup2 June 4th – Oro-Medonte @ Hardwood Ski & Bike
- OCup3 July 30th – Sudbury @ Naughton Trails **[No planned team support]
- Provincials August 27th – Milton @ Kelso Conservation Area

Program Requirements
- Open to riders with required skills and fitness, ages 8-17
- Participants require a mountain bike with a well-functioning gear system, hand operated rim/disc brakes (no coaster brakes), and kickstands removed. Please make sure your bike is in safe working condition prior to the beginning of the program.
- Participants in the program must be able to ride at a level where they understand gear selection, general bike handling skills and are comfortable climbing hills and riding singletrack trails.
