This week is already proving substantially cooler/less humid than any other week so far this summer. With that in mind, we’re going to shoot for a nice and flat 43km tomorrow. Woodland Road is considered a tough climb but I’ve always found it to be a story of two climbs. If you want to put the bike in a big gear and sprint, the two rises are long enough that they hurt. If you climb in a low gear (like most folks) then you will wonder where those hills you heard about went. 5th line and 7th line are fabulous roads to get familiar with if you aren’t already. They’re mostly flat and can take you over some long distances with little effort when you’re in the mood. We won’t be doing that tomorrow but you’ll get a taste of that relaxing feeling where you you think you can spin forever. The descent into Lakefield has always been great and now that the shoulder is paved I suspect it’s even better. From Lakefield we ride River Road back to Armour and then meander back to the Bean. This is a long one but it’s flat and oh so picturesque.
