PCC CX Race Series!
Published September 5, 2019
For 2019, Beginner Men, Sport Women, and Youth will open the day at 9:00am (20 minute race); Sport Men and Expert Women will race at 9:35am (40 minute race), and the morning wraps up with Expert men racing at 10:30 (50 minute race). Note, the definition of the Youth category has been adjusted for 2019, please consult the 2019 Tech Guide for more information.
2019 will also see the introduction of a $40 series fee for Beginner, Sport, and Expert categories, while Youth will race for free. The ‘cross committee and PCC Board has deliberated this change for some time, and with the unique equipment demands required to stage the series, decided it was time to see these costs covered in part by series participants.
Registration and fees for the PCC Cyclocross Series must be made through the usual CCN registration Portal. To avoid undue complications on race morning, there will be no ‘per race’ fee option, nor will race-day registrations be accepted. For full details on the PCC Cyclocross Series, please consult the Tech Guide.
As many of you are already aware, the City of Peterborough has decided against issuing the Club permits for Cyclocross racing in any city parks for 2019, preferring that we concentrate our events to a parcel of land at the northern terminus of Medical Drive. Last week, the Club initiated a campaign urging members to contact their Councillors, Mayor and City staff to convey the support and value of the series and our right to fair use of city parks (Didn’t get that email? Please email our Ride Coordinator, including your name, address and councillors for your ward).
As it stands, we have scheduled locations for the first 3 races of the season, by which time, we hope to have some resolution to our campaign and can announce the balance of the race venues.
For race dates and locations, please see the Weekly Ride Calendar:
*Race locations subject to change
We strongly encourage all riders to download (and read!) the 2019 Tech Guide prior to the series start. The Guide outlines all the important series competitors need — race information, times, points structure, rules, and ‘cyclocross community’ expectations the Club has of our participants.
